In 1964, a runner from Sri Lanka stepped onto the track at the Tokyo Olympics.
By the time the race ended, every other athlete had finished, cooled down, and moved on. He was still running, alone, in an empty stadium, with no chance of a medal.
He crossed the line anyway.
The crowd, who had begun to leave, stopped. Then they stayed. Then they cheered louder than they had for anyone else that day.
That moment, one man, one choice, one finish line, is the entire reason this cap exists.
